Merry Christmas! Be you Buddhist, Christian, atheist, or undecided, nobody in this country, or most of the world, can avoid getting swept away by this juggernaut of holidays.
There is plenty to hate about Christmas. It has become too loud, too commercial, and way, way too long! These are old complaints. And Christmas is going nowhere fast. At the end of the days, what’s the point of being the only house on the block with no lights, the only family with no gifts for the kids, or the only grinches not enjoying Christmas music.
Can a Buddhist celebrate Christmas? Yes we can! At it’s heart, Christmas is a celebration of life, a celebration of the joy of giving, and a celebration of being together with family. Nothing wrong with any of that.
